Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement

Job Summary
Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for executing programs and initiatives that strengthen relationships between Barton College and its alumni community. This role focuses on increasing alumni participation through events communications and volunteer opportunities while supporting institutional goals related to engagement and alumni philanthropy.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the management of Bartons alumni efforts and supports a division-wide commitment to fundraising by helping connect alumni engagement efforts to philanthropic outcomes.
- Plan and execute a comprehensive calendar of alumni events and programs including Homecoming Alumni Weekend regional events alumni awards legacy pinning and other signature programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase alumni participation including event attendance volunteer engagement and overall engagement metrics as well as supporting engagement pathways that ultimately encourage long-term donor alumni participation. This work will include a comprehensive calendar of alumni events and programs as well as managing and leveraging the new Almabase alumni community platform.
- Collaborate with Advancement and Marketing teams to support alumni communications including Class Notes updates and manage the social media accounts and alumni webpages.
- Partner with development staff to promote alumni giving opportunities including Clash of the Bulldogs Giving Day and other annual fund initiatives.
- Incorporate philanthropic messaging into alumni events and communications to support a culture of giving.
- Partner with Advancement leadership to support the Alumni Association Board.
- Track and report on alumni engagement metrics (participation rate attendance etc.).
- Maintain accurate alumni records within Advancement systems including Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT and Almabase.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist as needed in all fundraising programs and activities of Barton College and perform other duties as assigned. Provide professional quality customer service to donors alumni volunteers staff and other contacts.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelors degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience of demonstrated success in alumni relations (if Higher Education experience) or community engagement volunteer management special events management and/or program outreach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies as well as good judgement and ability to handle confidential / sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with data management systems; Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT is highly desirable.
- Optimistic attitude self-motivated and eager to be part of an emerging team.
