Job Summary

SHERIDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
VOCATIONAL TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. 240 day contract

2. Job Type: Licensed Teacher.

3. Reports to: Campus Principal or Designee.

4. Salary based on district Licensed Salary Schedule.

5. FLSA Status: Exempt.

6. 12 days sick leave per year of employment.

7. 10 days vacation per year of employment.

8. 3 days personal leave per year of employment.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Current or pending Arkansas Department of Education teaching license for the
grade level and/or subject area assigned. Hold any certifications or
endorsements required to teach the assigned vocational subject matter.

2. CASE Certification or willingness to get CASE certification is REQUIRED.

3. Must possess knowledge in all areas of responsibility as well as law and local policy.

4. Must be computer literate with at least the ability to send and receive email with
attachments produce memos navigate the internet as required by position
responsibilities accurately complete and submit forms or reports as required etc.

5. Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions policies and procedures.


6. Must be attentive to details a self-starter able to work effectively without
constant or direct supervision. Must be able to multi-task.

7. Must be of good moral character; strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics for
Arkansas Educators.

8. Must have good communication and organizational skills.


GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

1. Maintain professional behavior appearance and work ethic to represent the
school district in a positive manner at all times.

2. Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all
students.

3. Teach agriculture classes as assigned based on the needs of the students and
the Ag Department.

4. Prepare and evaluate teaching schedule curriculum and teaching calendars.

5. Conduct field trips both in and out of district.

6. Prepare teaching plans demonstration plans and teaching materials for all
classes.

7. Maintain data in the student grading system as required by the building
procedures.

8. Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE)

9. Visit students SAE projects.

10. Assist students in keeping SAE records.

11. Assist students in exhibiting livestock projects at fairs and shows

REQUIRED TECHNICAL TRAINING/SKILLS:

FFA

1. Serves asco-advisor for the FFA chapter.

2. Attend with FFA activities at the local area district and state levels in
coordination with students.

3. Prepare and train FFA contest teams and entries.

4. Assist students in preparing applications for proficiency awards state and
and American Degrees etc.

5. Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the local FFA
chapter and agriculture department.

OTHER

  1. Coordinate maintain inventories and keep a record of the agriculture
    equipment and supplies.
  2. Work with the department teacher(s) to purchase supplies and equipment
    for the Ag department following district procurement procedures.
  3. Inventory the supplies and equipment of the agriculture program annually.
  4. Cooperate in maintaining planning and improving the physical facilities of the
    agriculture department.
  5. Handle and process fundraising proceeds according to district policy andprocedure.
  6. Assume responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
  7. Attend regularly scheduled department campus and district meetings.
  8. Perform other duties as required or assigned by the principal or designee.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS and/or REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to meet the requirements of the job based on grade level nature of the teaching assignment along with any associated supervisory duties that may be assigned (i.e. cafeteria duty playground duty bus duty etc.) Must be able to see up close and at a distance. Must have the dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. There are frequent trips possibly overnight; prolonged and irregular work hours including late nights and Saturdays; outdoor and indoor work; exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather. Must be able to stand sit be mobile stoop lift and/or carry short distances items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to read and follow a variety of instructions on district state and federal websites as well as hard copy.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondences. Requires the ability to prepare lessons reports etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of grammar.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information to explain procedures to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise voice control and confidence. Must be able to deliver effective presentations to both small and large audiences.
