Workshop Manager Commercial Vehicle
Job Summary
About the role
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop ensuring efficient workflow high-quality output and adherence to safety standards. This role involves managing staff maintaining equipment and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Working location: BYDs Reading site RG2 0TG
Key Responsibilities:
Plan organize and supervise all workshop activities
Manage and lead a team of technicians mechanics or tradespeople
Allocate tasks and monitor productivity and performance
Ensure all work is completed to required quality standards
Maintain workshop equipment tools and machinery
Implement and enforce health and safety procedures
Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering of materials and parts
Liaise with clients suppliers and other departments
Prepare reports on operations performance and costs
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide hands-on support when required
Your profile:
Proven experience in a workshop or technical environment
Previous supervisory or management experience
Strong leadership and team management skills
Good technical knowledge relevant to the industry (e.g. automotive engineering manufacturing)
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with health and safety regulations
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills (e.g. inventory or job tracking systems)
Forklift license (desirable but not always required)
Right to work in the UK
Working conditions:
Workshop-based environment (may involve noise machinery and physical work)
May require extended hours or weekend work depending on workload
