PURPOSE
The Columbia Public Schools (CPS) Assistant to Life & Safety Specialist will use communication technical knowledge problem solving and effective interpersonal skills to deliver the highest level of customer service. The Assistant to Life & Safety Specialist will help plan coordinate and implement the organizations physical security needs. This position will also assist with the installation of security camera cameras security camera software access control integration and Raptor visitor management. This position collaborates with Safety and Security personnel and Technology Services to support and enhance a safe secure learning environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Install and maintain security cameras alarm devices buzzer-controlled doors Raptor visitor management and related equipment following infrastructure layouts and building plans.
Perform signal verification system testing and troubleshooting.
Assist customers with security-related downloads and device configuration as needed.
Educate and train customers on security system operation and functionality.
Provide technical support for security DVRs Key Fob system and emergency management systems.
Work closely with CPS Security professionals to ensure building security systems are in good working order.
Configure program and assist maintenance of key Fob system for optimal performance and key holder authentication.
Load software applications packages as needed for security systems.
Troubleshoot security camera and/or NVR issues and advise on repair and maintenance needs.
Perform bench repairs on security-related equipment as needed.
Provide assistance with scheduled security equipment relocation/new equipment.
Assist with internal training/troubleshooting techniques on security hardware and peripheral basics.
Troubleshoot and correct security equipment network connectivity issues.
Mount and fasten control panels door and window contacts sensors and video cameras and attach electrical to connect all components.
Test and repair circuits and sensors following wiring and system specifications. Test backup batteries keypad programming sirens and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose malfunctions.
Identify troubleshoot and resolve security hardware software and basic network related problems encountered by end-users of the network.
Monitor system and building access by looking-up ID status; verifying owner identity.
Provide information by collecting analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Keep informed of new products and developments and provide advice regarding options.
Request orders for replacement parts.
Understand and adhere to Board policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of the Columbia Public School District under the supervision of the Director of Safety and Security.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems or a combination of education
certifications and related work experience; Must have a basic understanding of
IPV4 and how to assign a computer an IP address.
Preferred: 5 years related work experience.
Ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate ability to learn new technical skills quickly and
solve/address complex technical problems effectively while directing the work of others. Strong communication time management and organizational skills. Strong working knowledge of networking client environments and
wireless.
