The Multimedia Manager is an ambassador and voice for Veterans service members and families in the state of South Carolina. The Multimedia Manager will be responsible for conceptualizing creating writing and managing engaging multimedia content to support the communication goals of the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs (SCDVA). This role involves producing high-quality scripts video photography and graphic design assets for various platforms including the SCDVA website social media channels presentations and public awareness campaigns. By enhancing the agencys visual storytelling the Multimedia Manager ensures that vital information regarding benefits resources and Veteran legacies effectively resonates with South Carolinas Veterans their families and the general public.

Responsibilities of the Multimedia Manager:

  • The Multimedia Manager/Multi-Skilled Journalist will co-lead and manage the creation of written creative content storytelling with reporter-style presentation on camera.
  • Manage and lead storyboarding content interview and research planning.
  • Managers and enterprises daily story ideas for assignments/publication.
  • Act as the primary agency photographer for events and promotional campaigns.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of current photography videography trends concepts styles and equipment.
  • Manages and provides direction of scriptwriting process with Multimedia Coordinator and/or other Office of Public Information staff.
  • Travel with agency executive director and other department leaders to cover events/stories.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant experience. An associate degree or a bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required work experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Position may require overnight travel.
  • Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
  • Position requires routine driver duties.
  • Position requires frequent lifting: 20 lbs.
  • Position requires non-essential declaration.
  • Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism Public Relations Media Marketing or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years college or professional newsroom experience in broadcast journalism with proven skills in on-camera reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating engaging multimedia content (video graphics and scriptwriting).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
