Job Summary
Offering unique active outdoor experiences in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Travelers Rest SC) Girl Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands Camp WaBak is nestled on 135 acres of forest trails lakefront creek with waterfall and cabinsan ideal natural setting for all to enjoy canoeing hiking archery environmental education and team challenges. We are seeking an experienced Health Coordinator (holding an active SC RN LPN or Paramedic) who loves the outdoors and is dedicated to delivering inclusive activity-driven experiences for girls. This position requires female staff in accordance with privacy and supervision standards under the Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) exception for youth in single-gender cabin and restroom settings.
This is a summer seasonal position and paid a flat weekly rate. Position requires daily on-site support (Sun Fri) with an option for overnight stay in an individual lodge setting. Daily hours are Sun 12 pm 7 pm; Mon Thurs 8 am 7 pm; and Fri 8 am 5 pm with the option for overnight stay. The Health Coordinator is a member of the administration who is responsible for the overall health of campers and staff throughout the summer.
Camp Season:
- Responsible for appropriate triage administering first aid.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Communicate with parents/guardians and staff as necessary.
- Administer all treatments engaging camp staff as appropriate for training opportunities.
- Prepare first-aid kits and issue to appropriate areas.
- Prepare meds and first aid kits for groups going on trips.
Post-Camp:
- Inventory check of supplies/equipment.
- Assessment and list of required inventory for next camp season.
- Evaluate and make recommendations on policies procedures and camp forms for next camp season.
- Pack up supplies at end of season.
General Administrative team responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and security of campers staff and facility at all times (risk assessment).
- Be an appropriate role model for other staff and campers.
- Lead by example.
- Inform director of any camper and staff problems.
- Pitch in where needed.
- Other duties as requested by the Camp Director.

Compensation/Benefits package includes...
Summer seasonal employment is a unique experience and falls under the seasonal exemption standard categorized as seasonal amusement or recreational establishment by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) the Department of Labor (DOL). This exempts the position from federal minimum and overtime wage requirements as we compensate a daily rate plus. The potential weekly earnings for this position are between $500-525 depending on availability scheduling experience and any related certifications.

Summer Camp Schedule:
The 2026 camp season begins with paid staff orientation/training starting on May 26th with camp running through Saturday July 25th. There are 5 weekly sessions 2 half week sessions of camp plus 1 weekend session requiring overnight stay. Summer staff with the exception of the one overnight weekend stay are to report to work on Sundays as designated herein through to Friday as scheduled.

- No prior Girl Scout experience required; must be at least 21 years older with a current SC RN LPN or Paramedic.
- First Aid and CPR certified preferred (will be provided at camp staff training if needed).
- This position requires female staff in accordance with privacy and supervision standards under the Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) exception for youth in single-gender cabin and restroom settings.
- Experienced in both children and adult illness/injury care.
- Review specific health issues with parents and staff.
- Participate in and assist with staff training relating to health and safety.
- Review inventory and supplies estimating needs for adequate inventory.
- Organize prepare health center for camp season.
- Process and check-in individual medication (prescription & nonprescription).
- Prepare medication administration forms (daily and prn sheets).
- Complete camper medication list for each unit.
