About the Role

We areseekingahighly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at Opera Australiaon a full-time basis. This roleis responsible forensuring the integrity of the general ledger and deliveringaccurateandtimelymonth-end and year-end reporting across the organisation.

Reporting to theSeniorFinance Manager the Senior Financial Accountant plays a critical role inprovidingfinancial insights strengthening internalcontrolsand supporting audit readiness. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with stakeholders across the business translating complex financial information into clear actionable insights that support decision-making and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close activities including journals accruals incomedeferralsand balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare annual financial statements for Opera Australia andOpera Australia Capital Fund.
  • Deliver high-quality monthly management reporting and quarterly financial insights to stakeholders.
  • Support annual audits including preparation of workpapers and responding to audit queries.
  • Prepare statutory returns including FBT and withholding tax returns.
  • Maintain and improve financial processes internalcontrolsand accounting policies
  • Provide financial analysis including variance analysis against budget and forecasts and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
  • Partner with FP&A and business leaders to support budgeting forecasting and performance management.
  • Support cashflow forecasting and treasury activities.
  • Coach and support team members and stakeholders to build financial capability across the organisation.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaborationaccountabilityand continuous improvement within the Finance team.

About You

  • CPA or CA qualified with tertiary qualifications inAccountingor a related field.
  • 8 years experience in a similar financial accounting role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience preparing financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems (Sun Systems experience is an advantage).
  • Excellent attention to detail witha high levelof accuracy.
  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive collaborative approach with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
