Job Summary

The EHS Specialist isdirectlyresponsiblefor the adaptationimplementationand development of a broad range of Environmental Health and Safety programswithin the CSL-Melbourne Research & Development operations andAffiliate offices as well asacross lab and office facilities acrossAPAC.The development harmonization provisionimplementationand monitoring of EHS standards coordination with GMs and local external EHS experts & specialists at our affiliates and R&Dcentersis essential and integral part of this role.


Reporting to the Head of EHS R&D and Affiliates this role demonstratescompetence across a variety of EHS disciplines while ensuring EHS compliance requirements are being reviewed andmaintainedat several CSL facilities.

Your Responsibilities

Develops Standardized EnvironmentalAndSafetyPrograms

  • Facilitates and performs risk identification and analysis.

  • Affiliates:Risks thatarise from typical office-based and field-based activities

  • R&Dcenter:Risksthat arisefrom typical laboratory activities.

  • Facilitates and performs environmental risk identification and analysis

  • Outlines training requirement to staff

  • Ensures regulatory compliance and site conformance to procedures and policies

Develops EHS Incident Program & Procedures

  • Reviews and categorizes incident reports investigations and CAPA.

  • Leads and reviews incident investigations and outlines areas for improvement oradditionalmitigation efforts

  • Tracks incident and CAPA metrics

  • Assistswith incident notifications and safety alerts.

Other ResponsibilitiesAsAssigned May Include

  • Environmental and sustainability program management

  • Development of technical documents including EHS procedures programs and training

  • Owns the development and execution of emergency response plans and drills

Your Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in occupational safety Environmental Engineering Environmental Sciences Chemical Engineering or equivalent; masters degree preferred

  • General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safetyrecommended

  • 5 years relevantEHSexperience including experience

  • Thorough knowledge of safety and environmental regulations

  • Pharmaceutical R&Dor chemicaloperationsexperience

  • Ability to work independently and build partnerships globally

  • Experience writing procedures policies reports and correspondence.

  • Comfortable with delivering presentations to audiences of 5-200 people (ex. training presentation of data or results)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rulesoperatingand maintenance instructions and procedures and policies
