Position Summary
The HMO Billing / Receivables Officer will be responsible for the accurate processing of HMO invoices claims submission payment reconciliation and receivables management. The role ensures timely billing efficient follow-up on outstanding payments and compliance with HMO contract terms and healthcare billing standards.
The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail good numerical skills and experience working with HMOs insurance claims or healthcare billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
HMO Billing & Claims Processing
Prepare review and submit accurate HMO invoices and claims within stipulated timelines.
Ensure all claims meet HMO requirements documentation standards and approval processes.
Liaise with internal departments (Laboratory Finance Client Services) to validate billing information.
Track submitted claims and ensure prompt processing and approval by HMOs.
Receivables Management
Monitor outstanding HMO payments and ensure timely follow-up for collections.
Maintain accurate records of all receivables and payment statuses.
Reconcile HMO accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Generate receivables aging reports and escalate overdue accounts where necessary.
Reconciliation & Reporting
Reconcile payments received against submitted invoices and claims.
Prepare weekly and monthly HMO billing and receivables reports.
Provide updates on payment status pending claims and financial risks.
Support audits by providing required billing and receivables documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with HMO representatives to resolve billing queries and disputes.
Work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure billing accuracy.
Maintain professional relationships with insurance partners and corporate clients.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all billing activities comply with HMO agreements company policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain proper documentation of claims approvals and correspondence.
Support internal and external audit processes.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education
Bachelors Degree or HND in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field.
Experience
2 4 years experience in HMO billing healthcare receivables or insurance claims management.
Experience in medical diagnostics hospitals or healthcare billing environment is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of HMO billing processes and healthcare claims management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
Experience using billing systems ERP or hospital information systems (an advantage).
Good understanding of accounting and reconciliation principles.
