Case Worker – Youth and Families
Job Summary
About the role:
The Caseworker Youth and Families is responsible for providing high quality early intervention and support services to vulnerable young people 12-17 years and their families across the Blacktown local government area.
The Case Manager:
Support young people and their families to access services that meet their needs;
Provide client-focused casework manage a case load and achieve individual targets;
Ensure that the emotional social behavioural developmental and educational needs of young people are met;
Ensure that case work practice is responsive to individual needs and reflects the organisations values policies and practice frameworks;
Ensure that the rights of young people are protected their wellbeing is actively safe guarded and any concerns are reported immediately;
Develop and deliver skills-focused group work and skills training including independent living skills;
Ensure that young people remain connected to the significant people and places in their lives;
Ensure that young people have access to information and experiences which assist them to develop a positive sense of identity and culture;
Ensure that young people and/or their families are included in decision making processes;
Develop skills and expertise in key practice areas e.g. trauma; attachment; sexual physical and emotional abuse; neglect; separation and loss; substance abuse; mental illness etc.
Participate in team meetings service networks inter-agencies and forums as required;
Promote the work of the organisation in the sector and wider community;
Comply with the organisations administrative and financial management procedures;
Participate in professional development opportunities as required;
Participate constructively in supervision and performance appraisals;
Participate in the development and review of policies and procedures;
Remain informed of policy practice and developments in early intervention and youth
services
Be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
Be available to undertake higher duties and/or secondment as required;
Undertake other duties as required.
