MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support commercial HVAC/R engineering and design projects for a growing portfolio of facilities and energy systems. This role will focus on transforming conceptual and red-line designs into detailed engineering drawings and construction documents utilizing AutoCAD and Revit under the direction of senior engineering leadership.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in commercial mechanical system design excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while ensuring code compliance accuracy and project deadlines are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop detailed engineering designs for commercial building projects and HVAC/R systems.
- Create maintain and update AutoCAD and Revit drawing packages.
- Support all phases of project design activities including engineering coordination quality control and code compliance.
- Ensure designs are completed accurately efficiently and within project timelines and budgets.
- Prepare engineering calculations and construction drawings that meet customer specifications and applicable building codes.
- Produce engineering documentation that aligns with company standards and client quality expectations.
- Coordinate with local building officials and regulatory agencies regarding code compliance requirements.
- Assist with site visits field observations and project reporting as needed.
- Support equipment selection system layout sizing calculations and mechanical system design under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
- Assist with additional departmental tasks including plotting drawings preparing transmittals and coordinating project deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal teams vendors and clients to support successful project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Other engineering or construction-related disciplines may be considered based on experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design for commercial facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit required.
- Experience with commercial HVAC/R systems and building energy systems preferred.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and technical writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
- Minimal travel to project sites may be required.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of applicable commercial building codes and industry standards.
- Experience supporting constructability reviews and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient building systems and sustainable design practices.
- Ability to interpret and develop mechanical system calculations and specifications.
