West Daly Regional Council is seeking an Aquatic Coordinator to lead the delivery of aquatic and wellness services in Wadeye Northern Territory. This leadership role is central to building local capacity and fostering community ownership of health water safety and recreation. About the Role

You will play a vital leadership role in managing pool operations and promoting culturally relevant aquatic programs. You will lead a dedicated team ensuring the facility is a safe inclusive and vibrant hub for the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise mentor and coordinate rosters for Duty Managers and aquatic staff.
  • Capacity Building: Provide on-the-job coaching to local staff to build sustainable pool governance.
  • Facility Management: Oversee water chemistry cleanliness and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Community Engagement: Develop programs that reflect local needs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with all health and operational standards.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Build positive partnerships with health services schools and Traditional Owners.
  • Administration: Manage budgets procurement and accurate reporting of facility outcomes.

About You

You are a safety-focused leader with strong cultural competency and the ability to build trust within remote Indigenous communities.

Essential

  • Previous experience in aquatic facility operations and staff supervision.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID003 or higher) and CPR certificates.
  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Pool Technical Operator Certificate.
  • National Criminal History Check and Working with Children (Ochre Card) clearances.
  • Current Northern Territory Drivers Licence.
  • Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
  • Full working rights in Australia.

Desirable

  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification.
  • Experience working in remote or Indigenous communities.
