Job Summary
To develop and manage client relationships within the AFGRI Insurance Brokers environment with a focus on generating new business retaining existing clients delivering compliant insurance advisory services and achieving financial and operational performance targets. The role drives revenue growth customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance while contributing to overall business unit performance.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc or BCom Agricultural Economics Finance or a related field
- 5 years short-term underwriting experience in the insurance industry
- FAIS-compliant - (NQF 4 Short-term insurance) certification is essential
- Completed Regulatory Exam Level 5 (RE5) is essential
- Proven experience in insurance sales client relationship management or financial services
- Strong understanding of agricultural insurance products (advantageous)
- Demonstrated ability to meet sales and revenue targets
- Knowledge of FSCA and FAIS regulatory requirements
- Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel (where applicable)
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
New Business Development
- Achieve new business growth targets through proactive client acquisition networking and internal referrals.
- Generate consistent sales activity including monthly quotations and product promotion initiatives.
- Expand product penetration (e.g. crop insurance and value-added solutions) to drive revenue and market presence.
- Participate in marketing initiatives (e.g. farmer days activations) to increase brand awareness.
Underwriting and Administration
- Process amendments endorsements renewals and new policies
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with FAIS and FSB regulations
Service New and Existing Clients
- Conduct comprehensive needs analyses and provide accurate client-specific insurance solutions.
- Manage client renewals proactively ensuring timely communication and continuity of cover.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by addressing complaints identifying uninsured risks and maintaining strong client relationships.
Budget Management
- Achieve and sustain revenue and sales budget targets through effective pipeline and client management.
- Monitor and control operational expenses while maintaining service standards.
General Operations & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to FSCA FAIS and internal regulatory requirements in all activities.
- Maintain accurate timeous reporting and participate in organisational activities and training.
- Identify risks report complaints and implement continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of insurance products (personal lines crop insurance advantageous)
- Understanding of FAIS FSCA regulations and compliance frameworks
- Sales and client relationship management expertise
- Financial acumen including budgeting and cost control
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and needs analysis
- Proficiency in reporting and administrative systems
