About the Position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Safety Engineer to join the Process Engineering team. Reporting to the Facilities Process Engineering Manager this role will be based in Chevrons office in Bengaluru.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical safety engineering expertise across the enterprise supporting capital projects & operating assets.
Consult on risk studies execution & risk reduction plan development.
Perform training & provide mentorship for technical skill development & participate in qualitative & quantitative risk studies to drive consistency.
Advise on consequence modelling tools parameters for quantitative risk models identification of safeguards to maintain managed risk levels and QRA results to influence design and operations decisions.
Develop quantitative risk models lead key quantitative & qualitative safety studies MOCs & verify QRA conformance with Chevron standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teamsincluding process mechanical and electrical engineersto integrate safety considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage MOC and PSSR digital tool administration
Provide quantitative quality reviews across MOC PSI and PSSR areas
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a related engineering discipline (mechanical chemical etc.) (B.E./.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
Familiarity with modelling software used by the Technical Safety Team such as PHAST SAFETI iPRSM HYSYS Pro/II FlareSim or equivalent.
5 - 10 years of experience in technical safety engineering within industrial manufacturing or energy sectors.
Familiarity of Process Safety Management concepts and principles such as PHA HAZOP LOPA MOC etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in Process Engineering in complex process facilities possibly through operation support engineering assignments or process design work.
An aptitude for chemical engineering fundamentals of mass transfer/distillation heat transfer fluid dynamics process control and kinetics; especially as it relates to overpressure protection (flare and relief).
Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
Familiarity with international safety standards (e.g. OSHA ISO 45001 IEC 61508).
