ABOUT THE ROLE
Boys & Girls Clubs is looking for an enthusiastic hands-on Youth Development Professional to join our summer camp team. This is a high-energy outdoor-focused role where you will lead daily camp activities guide campers through new experiences and create the kind of summer memories that last a lifetime. From morning check-in to afternoon programming you will be a constant positive presence building trust with campers modeling great character and keeping the energy high.
This is a temporary seasonal position for the period of June 15 through August 7. It does not carry benefits eligibility of any kind. Employment concludes automatically at the end of the camp season.
DAILY CAMP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and facilitate daily camp activities including outdoor games arts and crafts STEAM challenges sports team-building exercises and nature exploration.
- Supervise and actively engage with campers throughout all rotations transitions free time and meals maintaining supervision at all times.
- Greet campers enthusiastically each morning; manage check-in and check-out procedures and maintain accurate daily attendance records.
- Set up and break down activity areas each day; prepare all materials and supplies before campers arrive.
- Build genuine trusting relationships with campers by providing encouragement emotional support and consistent positive reinforcement.
- Model and reinforce Boys & Girls Clubs core values Belonging Competence Influence and Character in all camper interactions.
- Manage camper behavior proactively using positive age-appropriate strategies; notify the Camp Director of any escalating concerns.
- Respond calmly and decisively to camper incidents accidents or health concerns; document and report all incidents per camp protocol.
- Communicate openly and professionally with camper families at drop-off pick-up and as needed throughout the season.
- Participate fully in all staff training sessions daily briefings camp-wide events and end-of-season activities.
- Keep activity areas clean organized and free of hazards; enforce all safety protocols at all times.
- Track and maintain inventory of camp program equipment and supplies; submit supply requests to the Camp Director as needed.
- Submit accurate timesheets daily with required supervisor approval.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children or youth in a camp after-school recreational or educational setting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a degree in recreation education child development or a related field is a plus.
- Genuine enthusiasm for working outdoors and in a physically active fast-paced camp environment.
- Natural ability to connect with children inspire participation and handle behavioral challenges with patience and consistency.
- Flexible and adaptable able to shift plans on the fly based on weather camper energy or program needs.
- Strong communication skills with youth parents and fellow staff members.
- Ability to supervise and ensure the safety of a group of campers at all times.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to June 15 start date).
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the summer season.
- TB testing clearance required prior to first day of employment; renewal required every four (4) years.
- Must maintain valid fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of the following:
