Position description
The Law Society is inviting applications from members for appointment to the Law Society Kings Counsel Committee.
The designation of Kings Counsel is made by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General through a selection process that includes consultation with the Law Society of Saskatchewan the Canadian Bar Association and the Courts. Applications to the Law Society for Kings Counsel appointments are reviewed by the Kings Counsel Committee which consists of the following:
- Past President of the Law Society
- A member Bencher of the Law Society
- A public representative Bencher appointed to the Law Society
- A member of the Law Society
The Committee will meet up to four times between September and November 2026 to select and recommend approximately seven candidates for consideration by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General who makes the final selections for Kings Counsel designations.
Term and reappointment
Term concludes December 31 2026.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
Compensation and benefits
This is a volunteer position.
Collection of voluntary demographic data
The application will contain voluntary demographic questions. Information will be kept confidential and used only for fulfillment of the appointment or aggregate instances where the Law Society nominates candidates information will be shared with the appointing agency or organization.
