About the Role
Were looking for a self-starter to join our team as Assistant General this role you will lead contract negotiations and provide advice to the business on a variety of matters. Material prior experience in an in-house legal department negotiating sell-side/client contracts and/or expertise with procurement contracts and vendor negotiations is necessary.
What Youll Do
- Lead client-facing contract negotiations including Master Lease Agreements Master Services Agreements confidentiality agreements amendments and ancillary client documents.
- Collaborate closely with sales finance and risk teams to support business development and ongoing client relationships.
- Collaborate with cross board legal teams on cross border transactions including master lease and master services agreements syndication and securitization transactions.
- Support legal and business inquiries related to contract terms client disputes and compliance.
- Draft and negotiate vendor and sourcing agreements for Elements operations and service partners.
- Advise procurement and business stakeholders on legal terms compliance risks and negotiation strategy.
- Ensure contracts align with company policies data security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and improve internal legal processes.
- Regularly review and analyze statutes and federal regulations relevant to the vehicle management and leasing business.
- Provide ongoing training on pertinent legal and regulatory issues that affect the company.
Basic Qualifications
- JD from accredited law school in the United States or LLB/JD from an accredited Canadian or Irish law school.
- Admission to bar or one or more US Canadian or Irish jurisdiction.
- 5 years experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
- Ability to simultaneously manage a multitude of projects and work independently.
- Ability to successfully interface with all levels and areas of the organization including the executive leader level.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication including ability to listen closely ask questions and spot issues.
- Strong transactional corporate or financial experience in a top law firm is critical.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a wide range of commercial corporate and finance agreements.
- Experience negotiating data protection agreements with business clients or other familiarity with data privacy and security issues facing technology companies.
- Familiarity with leveraging AI in the execution of day-to-day responsibilities.
- General business knowledge particularly in the commercial corporate and/or finance areas preferred.
- Familiarity with equipment leasing and/or commercial loan documentation and structures a plus.
- Experience in contract compliance management and contract administration processes and systems.

Current Location: Toronto Ontario
The hiring base salary range for this position is $162700 to $223700 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individuals knowledge skills experience equity with other team members and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
