An established multidisciplinary engineering environment is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its team based in Durban or Johannesburg. This role is suited to a seasoned design-led professional who thrives on technical ownership project leadership and delivering infrastructure projects from concept through to full ECSA stages.
While the role is office-based in Durban or Johannesburg you must be willing and able to travel to project sites across South Africa as required. All business-related travel and accommodation will be covered by the company.

An established multidisciplinary engineering environment is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its team based in Durban or Johannesburg. This role is suited to a seasoned design-led professional who thrives on technical ownership project leadership and delivering infrastructure projects from concept through to full ECSA stages.
While the role is office-based in Durban or Johannesburg you must be willing and able to travel to project sites across South Africa as required. All business-related travel and accommodation will be covered by the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design planning and management of civil engineering projects including roads stormwater earthworks water reticulation and sewer infrastructure
- Take full technical ownership of projects ensuring innovative cost-effective and compliant design solutions
- Manage project budgets timelines resources and risk
- Prepare and review technical reports proposals tender documentation and contractual deliverables
- Liaise with clients contractors local authorities and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and technologists
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
- Ensure adherence to health safety and environmental standards across all project phases
Minimum Requirements (NonNegotiable)
- Qualification: BSc Eng BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 10 years postgraduate civil engineering experience
- Professional Registration:
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng)
- Minimum 5 years postprofessional registration experience
- Technical Capability: Proficient in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D Prokon or similar
- Mobility: Willingness to travel nationally as project requirements dictate (company-covered)
- Licence: Valid South African drivers licence
