Job Summary
WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU
The Director of Contract Strategy secondee is responsible for shaping all aspects of their assigned brands gross-to-net (GTN) including payer rebates provider discounts pricing decisions and channel discounts. These gross-to-net levers impact millions of dollars in sales annually for a given brand. The Contract Strategist works directly with Brand Teams Therapeutic Area Leaders and US Payer and Channel Access stakeholders to lead the development and assessment of contracting strategies at the product and channel level (e.g. Commercial Medicare Medicaid Hospital and Specialty Pharmacy).
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
Strategy development and channel assessments include internal and external research analytics and financial analyses to develop and support recommendations. Contract strategists support their assets throughout the product lifecycle (e.g. launch post-launch LOE).
This role will support the Migraine BU.
HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT
Responsible for leading a cross-functional team and arriving at recommendations on rebate investments with US payers (health plans PBMs) in order to optimize access and gross-to-net for assigned rebate investment decisions impact millions of dollars in annual sales for a brands gross-to-net.
Partner with various cross-functional stakeholders to shape other elements of a brands GTN including pricing decisions channel discounts and provider contracting. The Contract Strategists has the critical role of coordinating and strategically aligning these disparate activities across the enterprise.
Full accountability and ownership for shepherding contract assessments through the PCGC governance cycle. This includes coordinating stakeholder meetings building the narrative defining analyses that need to be completed vetting completed analytics developing a recommendation and coordinating with brand leadership.
Active involvement in assessment and development of value-based contractual agreements (i.e. VBAs) with payers providers and other stakeholders in US healthcare ecosystem.
Routinely engage with and make recommendations to Brand BU Leadership andUSMA Leadership (VP & Senior VP roles) on contracting strategy and rebate investment thresholds.
Lead the contract strategy development and planning for assigned products over the different stages of the product life cycle (e.g. launch post-launch LOE).
Deliver timely consistent contract and product strategies to meet competition and respond to changing and increasingly complex marketplace dynamics.
Communicate contract strategies and guidelines to numerous cross-functional stakeholders including Brand Teams Contract Development Account Management Payer Marketing and Others.
Monitor contract / channel / product trends and identify issues and provide solutions to counter or overcome to Brand Team and Senior Leadership.
Collaborate with Patient and Health Impact stakeholders to participate in and support pre-launch activities such as market research studies competitive environment evaluations and pricing research studies as well as support for licensing deals and development program assessments.
Participate in non-standard contracting requests with all stakeholders and evaluate viability of requests while providing strategic contracting solutions insights and recommendations to brand teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
Applicant must have a bachelors degree with at least 8 years of experience.
8 years of market access experience required.
5 years of experience with managed care analytics.
Experience leading both direct and indirect teams in a collaborative team to lead projects that impact USMA and US business overall.
Deep knowledge of U.S. markets and the underlying financial dynamics from the perspective of all stakeholder groups (i.e. Commercial Medicaid Medicare).
Financial modeling expertise must be expert in MS Excel.
Strategic thinking: Able to understand the changing dynamics of the US payer environment and have the strategic insights to develop strategies for Pfizer.
Nice-to-Have
Masters degree with at least 7 years of experience; OR a PhD with 5 years of experience OR MD with 4 years of experience.
Prior experience in market access Contract Strategy and/or Development roles.
Excellent knowledge of Pfizer product portfolio and competitive market challenges.
Strong strategic innovative thinker - solution oriented.
Demonstrated high level analytical skills and business acumen.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with senior leaders and other cross-functional groups to build consensus.
Ability to navigate complex internal corporate processes to speed decision making.
