Position Summary Under the supervision of the Principal the Director of Campus Ministry aids in creating an environment that tends to the spiritual needs of the students fostering prayer discipleship sacramental experiences and Catholic service opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include but are not limited to the following: - Facilitates an atmosphere of Catholic hospitality where all feel welcome.
- Regular communication with school personnel regarding campus ministry activities
- Works collaboratively with the administration Guiding Coalition and the pastor in the development of faith-centered programs
- Coordinates school liturgies and sacramental needs
- Planning and supervision of both day-long (grade level) and overnight retreats
Retreat Program - SPIRITUAL Growth - Provide opportunities for others to deepen their relationship with Christ
- Organizes plans and implements an effective retreat program for students that contributes to community building faith development evangelization and leadership enrichment
- Establishes retreat dates and locations
- Communication with faculty and student body about retreat events and dates
- Encouraging and mentoring student leadership on retreats
- Consistent presence and lead responsibility during all retreats
- Provide students with opportunities to encounter Christ and be able to share that encounter with others
Sacramental Encounters and Prayer - Offer a variety of prayer experiences both personal communal and seasonal.
- Write and coordinate student leaders for school-wide daily morning and afternoon prayers
- Work with the school Sacristan to provide opportunities for students faculty and staff to celebrate the Sacraments especially the Eucharist andReconciliation including penance services during Advent and Lent
- Coordinate liturgical celebrations including school-wide Masses daily Masses and faculty Masses with the school Sacristan
- Organizes training for liturgical ministers; extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist lectors servers and all other students involved with liturgical celebrations
- Coordinates the use of the chapel
Christian Service - Assists in planning/coordinating Christian Service Projects for all students faculty and staff
- Ensures a pro-life presence on campus
Additional Job Functions - Attends to own personal professional and spiritual development
- Oversees the budgetary process for campus ministry
- Establish and maintain campus ministry events for the school year calendar
- Attends local and archdiocesan meetings for campus ministers
- Stays abreast of current developments in the area of school/campus ministry
- Is available to students faculty staff and parents
- Organization of the campus ministry office and space
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Practicing Catholic with an active sacramental and faith life and in good standing with the Church
- A working knowledge of Church teaching Catholic sacramental theology current liturgical norms and practices of the Church and archdiocese
- Be an active and visible member of the community with a deep faith commitment and the ability to articulate this faith to young adults faculty staff and other religious leaders
- Ability to show sensitivity in handling confidential information
- Able to work well in a team setting and with volunteers
- Excellent organizational skills demonstrates initiative creativity and problem-solving capabilities
- Is adaptable and flexible in routine and unexpected situations
- Understands and makes use of current school technology to enhance campus ministry activities and experiences
- Being comfortable in large group dynamics as well as one-on-one interactions
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelors degree. Theology Religious Studies preferred
- Prior experience working with youth in high school college/university or a parish setting
- Has Catechetical Certification
- Has or working to complete Protecting Gods Children Certification
