Role Overview:
The Outpatient Child Psychiatrist works with other dedicated professionals in a dynamic and exciting multidisciplinary team setting. Our team-based model of care centers on holistic person- and family-centered care that addresses all aspects of recovery. We incorporate evidence-based practices into our services including DBT EMDR TF-CBT and WRAP among others to assist our clients on their journeys through recovery. The Outpatient Child Psychiatrist works as the lead for our child psychiatry services across our outpatient clinics providing direct care as well as providing supervision for child focused Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners in various clinics and participating in Quality Improvement and program development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management services to Valley Cities children and adolescent clients. May also provide care to adult clients as needed.
  • Provides supervision for child focused Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.
  • Communicate with personnel outside of VCCC as needed to improve quality of care and provide coordination of care.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings as assigned.
  • Coordinates care with and provides clinical consultation to non-medical clinical staff as clinically indicated.
  • Provides psychiatric care and consultation to VCCC primary care partners as assigned.
  • Maintains required clinical and medical records in accordance with Federal State local governing agencies and community standards.
  • Collaborates with other VCCC staff in maintaining high clinical standards and services within the outpatient clinic.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Meet all required work deadlines.
  • Learn and follow all related Joint Commission Federal State local and Agency requirements and established VCCC Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend required in-service training and meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Chief Medical Officer.
  • Attend related meetings outside of VCCC and travel to/from work related events as assigned by Chief Medical Officer.
What Were Looking For:
Education and Experience
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
  • Board Certified in general psychiatry and licensure in child psychiatry.
  • Completed a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program.
Other:
  • Pass required background checks.
  • Ability to work independently.
