Senior Electrical Engineer Renewable Energy Industry

RPO Recruitments client a leading engineering firm in Midrand is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team. The role involves leading and delivering high voltage electrical engineering solutions across complex infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead HV engineering design for substations transmission distribution and reticulation systems
• Prepare review and approve technical designs drawings calculations and specifications
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
• Ensure compliance with Eskom standards SANS IEC NRS Grid Code and OHSA regulations
• Support projects through feasibility studies tender evaluations and cost estimates
• Liaise with clients contractors consultants suppliers and multidisciplinary teams
• Provide site-based support including inspections testing commissioning and handover
• Identify and manage technical risks while ensuring safe cost-effective solutions
• Ensure delivery within quality safety budget and programme requirements

Requirements:

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) advantageous
• 710 years electrical engineering experience
• Strong HV experience including substations transmission distribution and protection systems
• Proven exposure to full project lifecycle (design to commissioning)
• Site-based construction experience essential
• Experience in mining energy infrastructure or industrial sectors advantageous
• Strong technical analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
