WORK DAYS: 190 regular work days (if August Start Date)
PAY: Pay for the 2026-27 school year ranges from $48925 to $94049 for full-time staff. This will be prorated to FTE. Placement is dependent on prior verifiable experience and education level.
RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTION: The North Santiam School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility the district contributes 6% of an employees salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees who have worked at least 6 months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Summary
Mari-Linn School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Specialist to join our educational team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting students in developing their reading skills fostering a love for literature and implementing effective reading intervention strategies. This position requires collaboration with teachers parents and students to create a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes literacy development for all learners.
This position is funded in part through federal Title I resources and serves a Title I schoolwide program. As such assigned duties and responsibilities will directly support the implementation of federally funded programs and services designed to improve student achievement and provide equitable educational opportunities for all students. The employee will be expected to comply with all applicable federal state and district requirements associated with Title I funding and program implementation.
Responsibilities
- Assess and identify students reading levels and needs through various evaluation methods
- Develop and implement individualized reading intervention plans for students struggling with literacy
- Provide targeted small group and one-on-one instruction to enhance reading skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading strategies into the curriculum
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers and parents on effective reading practices
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages a love for reading
- Stay current with research-based reading instruction techniques and literacy resources
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions
Requirements
1. Bachelors degree in Education Reading Literacy or a related field; Masters degree preferred
2. Current valid OregonTeachingLicense with appropriate authorization level required or ability to obtainone
3. Valid teaching certification with a focus on literacy or reading instruction
4. Proven experience as a Reading Specialist or in a similar role
5. Strong understanding of reading development and intervention strategies
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students staff and parents
8. Familiarity with assessment tools and data analysis to inform instruction
9. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on literacy best practices
