CatholicCare Tasmanias Inspire at Home Program provides therapeutic residential care foryoung people aged 12 to 18 referred by Child Protection Services. The programoffers a healing trauma-informed environment to support young people inovercoming life challenges and developing essential life skills. As part of theChild and Youth Services stream Inspire at Home program contributes toimproving the wellbeing of children and families across Tasmania.
The Role:
The Placement Lead plays a key leadership role in delivering high-qualitytherapeutic care for children and young people in residential settings. Workingclosely with stakeholders and therapeutic specialists the role ensures a safesupportive and structured environment that promotes life skills educationand meaningful connections.
This role requires a compassionate organised and proactive leader committed totrauma-informed relational and therapeutic care aligned with CatholicCareTasmanias values and model of care.
How you will make an impact
- Provide visible supportive leadership to residential care teams.
- Lead operations in alignment with program model of care relevant legislation and organisational policies.
- Oversee the implementation and review of therapeutic care plans.
- Guide staff in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) practices.
- Support transitions into and out of care placements.
- Support assessments and planning for young people in care.
- Provide reflective supervision mentoring and performance management.
- Manage rostering and staffing across designated homes.
- Support recruitment induction and ongoing professional development.
- Manage daily operations including resource allocation and budget adherence.
- Respond to crises and proactively manage risks.
- Participate in rotational on-call support for house teams.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Community Services Youth Work or a related field (minimum Diploma level; Degree preferred).

- How do you support the professional development of staff in a residential care setting Provide examples of how youve identified learning needs and facilitated growth.
- Explain your approach to developing and implementing individual care plans. How do you ensure these plans are responsive to the needs of children and young people and their voices are front and center
- Share an example of how youve managed a crisis or high-risk situation in a residential care environment. What strategies did you use to ensure safety and stability
- How do you foster a positive team culture and maintain staff motivation in a dynamic and challenging work environment
- Describe your experience with operational responsibilities such as rostering budgeting and compliance. How do you balance resource management with quality care delivery
