Labor & Delivery / Obstetrics Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Assignment
Location: Fort Defiance Arizona
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12-Hour Day Shifts
Schedule: Flexible scheduling required; includes weekends and holidays as needed
EMR System: RPMS
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery / Obstetrics Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment in Arizona. The ideal candidate will bring strong recent experience across Labor & Delivery Postpartum and Newborn care with the ability to function independently in a fast-paced maternal-child health setting.
This role supports comprehensive maternal and neonatal services including labor management postpartum recovery breastfeeding support and newborn care. Candidates must be adaptable collaborative and comfortable floating to other units within scope of practice when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for Labor & Delivery Postpartum and Newborn patients
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
- Assist physicians during vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections
- Perform postpartum assessments and provide patient education for mothers and newborns
- Support breastfeeding initiatives and Baby-Friendly Hospital practices (BFHI)
- Conduct newborn assessments and provide routine neonatal care
- Administer medications IV therapy and treatments per provider orders
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EMR system
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and assist with critical interventions
- Serve as charge nurse when assigned after orientation/training
- Collaborate with physicians neonatal staff and interdisciplinary care teams
- Float to other units within competency as needed
- Assist with general patient care activities including monitoring and call light response
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery Postpartum and Newborn care required
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Current ACLS or ALSO certification required
- Current NRP certification required
- Current AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
- (RNC-EFM may be accepted in place of AWHONN FHM)
- Strong experience managing obstetric emergencies and maternal/newborn assessments
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Ability to work independently in a high-acuity OB environment
- Excellent communication critical thinking and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work weekends holidays and rotating assignments as needed
- Experience floating across related units preferred
