Civil Plan Check Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with plan checking for encroachment permits; land development grading plans street plans water and sewer plans drainage plans and drainage studies

• Review traffic control plans for compliance with applicable standards

• Coordinate with utilities contractors consultants and municipal departments

• Support construction management activities including resolving field issues when needed

• Prepare technical documentation reports and project correspondence

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Understanding of engineering principles related to public works utilities and/or land development projects

• Working knowledge of plan preparation including mass grading rough grading precise grading storm drain systems street improvements and sewer and water plans

• Familiarity with land development processes including entitlements conditions of approval hydrology and hydraulics storm water quality management plans (SWQMPs) and final maps

• Awareness of relevant local state and federal regulations applicable to public works and development projects

• Familiarity with CEQA is preferred

• Strong organizational analytical and communication skills

Experience & Software Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience preferred

• Any combination of civil design and/or civil plan check experience

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Word and Excel

• Experience using Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat required

• Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D GIS ArcView or ArcInfo is a plus

Education & Certification

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution

• Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

Salary Range:$40.00/hr - $50.00/hr
