General Function
There are three (3) positions budgeted for 25 hours a week for 9 weeks.
Day Camp Program Details
The 2026 Summer Day Camp Program will run from July 7 through August 14 2026 for a total of six weeks. Staff will participate in a full week of training and program setup beginning June 30 2026. This will be followed by a final week focused on cleanup organization and wrapping up the program for the season.
Day Camp program hours are Monday through Friday 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Staff are expected to work Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to allow time for setup and cleanup each day.
There are three (3) Day Camp positions available for the 2026 season.
In addition to supporting day camp operations Recreation Aids and Leaders will assist with a variety of Parks and Recreation programs and events throughout the summer. This includes helping with summer concerts special events community farmers markets and outreach efforts to promote Parks and Recreation.
Under the direction of a Program Coordinator or Recreation Leader the Recreation Aid assists with the supervision and delivery of recreation programs and activities to school-age youth. Helps ensure a safe inclusive and engaging environment for participants while supporting program operations and customer service needs.Representative Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with the supervision of participants to ensure a safe and positive environment
Support and help lead age-appropriate activities including games sports arts and crafts music and enrichment programs
Represent Department of Parks and Recreation at special events community programs and other department initiatives assigned
Encourage participation and engagement in activities in a positive enthusiastic and inclusive manner
Help monitor participant behavior and maintain order during activities and transitions
Set up organize and clean up program areas equipment and supplies
Greet participants and patrons; provide basic program information and assistance when needed
Assist with participant check-in/check-out and attendance tracking as needed
Observe and report safety concerns incidents or behavioral issues to supervisors
Follow all safety procedures and program guidelines
Complete basic program documentation such as attendance logs or incident reports as assigned
Perform light custodial or organizational tasks to maintain clean and safe program spaces
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as assignedQualifying Education and Experience (Minimum Requirements)
Must be at least 16 years of age
Interest in recreation youth programs or community services
Ability to pass a background check if applicable
Experience working with children or groups (e.g. volunteering babysitting school activities) is preferred
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Entry Requirements)
Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with young participants staff and the public
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
Ability to engage positively with children and participants of diverse backgrounds and abilities
Basic understanding of first aid and safety practices in a recreational setting
Ability to assist in organizing and leading structured activities in fun positive manner.
Dependability positive attitude and willingness to learn
Familiar with a variety of different sports arts music and/or a combination of these activities
Communicating effectively in active indoor and outdoor environments
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work involves light physical activity and may include:
Walking and standing for extended periods
Bending kneeling reaching and light lifting (up to 20 pounds)
Participating in recreational activities with children and groups

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors
