Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Applications Specialist to serve as a key technical resource and liaison between the company and our field this role you will provide expert assistance via phone and email generating accurate quotes and answering technical questions regarding our commercial and semi-custom HVAC product lines. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between sales and engineering ensuring that special configurations meet design intent while maintaining unit integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support: Provide equipment selections to customers and representatives using computer selection software and provide product training to engineers.
Custom Design: Analyze unique customer applications and coordinate with consulting engineers to determine proper equipment requirements for custom systems.
Quotation Management: Prepare and provide accurate quotations for both standard and semi-custom-built commercial HVAC systems.
Documentation: Prepare submittal drawing packages and assist in writing technical papers or articles related to the industry.
Order Processing: Receive and verify purchase orders ensuring product availability and accuracy of billing and shipment documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface with Engineering Production and Sales Managers to assist in product design improvements and new product development.
Compliance & Industry Trends: Remain current with government regulations building codes and industry changes; work with code officials as needed.
Field Engagement: Travel to trade shows and technical seminars to demonstrate product lines and resolve customer complaints regarding order processing.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Previous experience in technical inside sales or support specifically with semi-custom HVAC and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) products.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint); knowledge of AutoCAD and experience with HVAC selection software is a plus.
Communication: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to give technical presentations to industry groups and specifying engineers.
Aptitude: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complex configurations and draft precise contracts and invoices.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Office & Field: Primary work is performed in a professional office environment with the requirement to travel to trade shows and technical seminars as needed.
Activity: Occasional field surveys may require visiting customer sites to analyze specific applications.
Reliability: Ability to manage a steady workload of processing orders monitoring delivery dates and resolving processing issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
