ROLE OVERVIEW

The Development Executive is a key role within Screen Irelands Production and Development team contributing to the creative development of screen content across both the Irish and English fluency in Irish is not essential a strong understanding is highly desirable and will be postholder will support and contribute to a broad portfolio of development projects spanning feature film TV drama and animation with a particular emphasis on Irish language content.

This role requires strong editorial insight and a deep understanding of screenwriting storytelling and the Irish audiovisual landscape. Working collaboratively within the Production and Development team the Development Executive will support and contribute to project evaluation talent development and the delivery of high-quality original screen content that aligns with Screen Irelands wider strategy and funding priorities.

The postholder will work collaboratively with film and Television creators and internal colleagues providing structured feedback to support creative growth and championing diverse and compelling content capable of reaching Irish and international audiences.

FUNCTION OVERVIEW

The Production and Development function at Screen Ireland is to oversee and support the creation and advancement of film and television projects. This involves providing funding guidance and resources to Film and Television creators to facilitate the development production and distribution of high-quality Irish films and television content. Additionally the team are responsible for talent development initiatives and industry collaborations to promote the growth and sustainability of the Irish film and television sector.

JOB GRADE
It is anticipated that in order to have the required skills and competencies the Higher Executive Officer posts will be at the First Point level.

REPORTING LINE(S)
This role reports to the Development Manager and works closely with the Heads of Television and Feature Film as well as the wider Production and Development team to ensure effective communication and team synergy. Reporting structures may be reviewed periodically to reflect business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Development Oversight
  • Support and contribute to the development of individual projects across the slate assisting talent at all stages of the creative lifecycle.
  • Support the review and assessment of applications for development funding providing structured feedback and recommendations in line with Screen Irelands editorial standards.
  • Provide clear constructive editorial direction to writers and creative teamsboth verbally and in writingto enhance the quality originality and viability of screen projects.
  • Contribute to shaping the development trajectory of projects including narrative structure tone audience alignment and market positioning.

Slate and Organisational Development
  • Support the coordination and delivery of development activity across Screen Irelands project slate in collaboration with the Development Manager and relevant team members.
  • Assist in the rollout of development schemes or initiatives aimed at supporting creative talent storytelling diversity and project readiness.
  • Help track project progress and gather information to support internal planning reporting and evaluation processes.

Governance and Reporting
  • Attend and contribute to internal review meetings and cross-functional working groups.
  • Ensure that all development activity is conducted in line with public sector governance organisational policies and EDI principles.

Operational and Team Support
  • Provide input into continuous improvement of development processes templates and workflows.
  • Support the delivery of workshops training sessions or public engagements as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to ensure consistency knowledge-sharing and joined-up working.

KEY REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL

  • A relevant third-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Film Television Media Studies Communications Business Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word Excel Teams) and confidence working with digital systems tools and internal databases
  • Minimum of three years experience in a comparable role within screen content development production public sector or arts and cultural organisations.
  • Demonstrated script development and editorial expertise including experience providing structured story and script analysis and delivering clear constructive feedback.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders including creative talent funders and broadcasters.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to contribute positively to a dynamic strategic and creative working environment.

ROLE DETAILS AND TERMS

  • This position is at the Higher Executive Officer level and is remunerated at 59435 per annum. This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at the first point of this Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role. Application of 1 February 2026 pay adjustments.
  • This is a full-time fixed-term three-year contract.
  • The successful candidate will be required to sign the Screen Ireland Code of Conduct.
  • The role will have a 6-month probation period.
  • Will report directly to theDevelopment Manager.
  • The post will be based in Dublin/Galway.
  • Annual leave (excluding bank holidays) of 29 days.

Déanfaidh an sealbhóir poist cinntí stuama atá bunaithe ar fhianaise agus a thacaíonn le pleanáil éifeachtach agus torthaí intomhaiste. Bainfidh sé/sí úsáid as taighde sonraí agus anailís chun bonn eolais a chur faoi mholtaí léireoidh sé/sí breithiúnas agus smaointeoireacht chriticiúil i réiteach fadhbanna agus déanfaidh sé/sí monatóireacht ar dhul chun cinn in aghaidh na gcuspóirí. Le béim ar thorthaí láidre agus tiomantas dfheabhsú leanúnach cinnteofar go soláthrófar aschur ardchaighdeáin a bheidh ag teacht le tosaíochtaí na heagraíochta.

3. CroíInniúlacht: Treorú agus Cumhacht

4. CroíInniúlacht: Cumarsáid agus Comhoibriú
Tá cumarsáid agus comhoibriú éifeachtach lárnach sa ról seo. Déanfaidh an sealbhóir poist cumarsáid go soiléir go muiníneach agus go gairmiúil san uile fhormáid agus cuirfidh sé/sí a c(h)ur chuige in oiriúint do phobail éagsúla. Forbróidh sé/sí caidreamh láidir fiúntach le comhghleacaithe agus le páirtithe leasmhara cuirfidh sé/sí le plé foirne go gníomhach agus léireoidh sé/sí tuiscint stuaim agus tionchar chun torthaí a bhaint amach agus chun caidreamh oibre cuiditheach a chaomhnú.

5. CroíInniúlacht: Comhionannas Éagsúlacht agus Ionchuimsitheacht
Cuirfidh an sealbhóir poist prionsabail an chomhionannais na héagsúlachta agus na hionchuimsitheachta chun cinn agus i bhfeidhm go gníomhach i ngach gné dá c(h)uid oibre. Cothóidh sé/sí cultúr measa cothroime agus muintearais dfhonn cumarsáid ionchuimsitheach agus rannpháirtíocht chothrom i bpróisis eagraíochtúla a chinntiú. De dheasca na feasachta na foghlama agus an rólmhúnlaithe cuirfidh sé/sí le hionad oibre ina bhfuil meas ar dhearcthaí éagsúla agus ina seastar le tiomantas Fhís Éireann do chleachtas ionchuimsitheach i gcónaí.

TRÉITHE INMHIANAITHE
  • Tá cur amach láidir ar an nGaeilge an-inmhianaithe agus measfar gur buntáiste mór é.
  • Scileanna maithe bainistíochta tionscadail agus comhordaithe agus an cumas tograí a phleanáil a chur chun feidhme agus a rianú ó thús go deireadh.

Mar chuid de do litir chumhdaigh ba cheart duit na scileanna agus an taithí atá agat a chomhlíonann riachtanais an phoist a leagan amach. Beidh na hiarratais go huile agus go hiomlán faoi rún. I gcomhréir le creat inniúlachtaí na Seirbhíse um Cheapacháin Phoiblí tabharfaidh iarrthóirí ar an ról seo faoi mheasúnú agus cuirfear faoi agallamh iad ina ndíreofar arChreat Inniúlachta na Seirbhíse Poiblí do leibhéal Ardoifigigh Feidhmiúcháinach gan bheith teoranta dó sin.

IARRATAIS: CEISTEANNA FAOIN LITIR CHUMHDAIGH
Iarraimid ar gach iarrthóir litir chumhdaigh a chur isteach mar chuid dá iarratas nó dá hiarratas. Sa litir chumhdaigh iarrtar ort na ceisteanna seo a leanas a fhreagairt:

  4. Conas a thugann tú faoi mheasúnú a dhéanamh ar thograí tionscadail Déan cur síos ar an gcaoi a mbaineann tú cothromaíocht amach idir critéir mhaoiniúcháin agus ceisteanna praiticiúla.

Ní chuirfear iarrthóirí nach bhfreagraíonn na ceisteanna riachtanacha ina litir chumhdaigh ar an ngearrliosta.
GEARRLIOSTÚ
Féadfaidh Fís Éireann i gcás inar gá próiseas gearrliostaithe a chur i bhfeidhm chun an líon iarrthóirí a théann ar aghaidh chuig céim an agallaimh a bhainistiú. Cé gur féidir go gcomhlíonfaidh iarrthóirí na critéir incháilitheachta shonraithe is féidir nach mbeidh sé praiticiúil gach duine a ghlao ar aghaidh le haghaidh measúnú mar gheall ar an líon iarratas.

Sna himthosca sin beidh an gearrliostú bunaithe ar an bhfaisnéis a sholáthraíonn tú i do litir chumhdaigh agus curriculum vitae agus ar fhreagraí ar na ceisteanna a leagtar amach sa sainchuntas poist. Cuirfear béim ar leith ar conas a léiríonn iarrthóirí na croíinniúlachtaí is gá mar a leagtar amach i gCreat Inniúlachta na Seirbhíse um Cheapacháin Phoiblí i dteannta aon tréithe inmhianaithe a sainaithníodh don ról.

Ceapadh an próiseas sin le go sainaithneofar na hiarrthóirí sin is mó a thagann le riachtanais an róil bunaithe ar an bhfianaise a sholáthair siad ina niarratas. Ní thugtar le fios leis sin go bhfuil iarrthóirí eile míoiriúnach nó nach féidir leo tabhairt faoin ról; ina ionad sin cinntítear leis sin go dtugtar cuireadh chun agallaimh dóibh sin ar cosúil go bhfuil ailíniú a gcuid cáilíochtaí taithí agus inniúlachta ar an ailíniú is ábhartha.

AN PRÓISEAS ROGHNÚCHÁIN
Is féidir go náireofar ceann amháin nó níos mó de na céimeanna seo a leanas sa phróiseas roghnúcháin do róil laistigh dFhís Éireann:
  • Gearrliostú iarrthóirí bunaithe ar an bhfaisnéis a soláthraíodh ina niarratas (CV agus litir chumhdaigh).
  • Cleachtadh nó measúnú scríofa agus is féidir go reáchtálfar sin ar líne nó i láthair go pearsanta.
  • Cur i láthair nó cleachtaí eile atá ábhartha maidir leis an ról.
  • Agallamh nó agallaimh a dhéantar ar líne nó i láthair go pearsanta.
  • Samplaí oibre nó tástálacha nó measúnuithe eile a mheastar a bheith iomchuí don phost.

I gcás iarrthóirí dár tugadh cuireadh páirt a ghlacadh in aon chéim den phróiseas soláthrófar sonraí iomlána dóibh roimh ré. Is faoi na hiarrthóirí atá sé a chinntiú go mbeidh a gcuid sonraí teagmhála cruinn agus cothrom le dáta.

Má thugtar cuireadh chun agallaimh nó measúnaithe duit agus mura bhfuil tú in ann freastal air ag an tráth sonraithe is féidir nach mbeifear in ann athsceidealú agus is féidir go measfar gur tarraingíodh diarratas siar ón gcomórtas.

TIOMANTAS DON CHOMHIONANNAS DON ÉAGSÚLACHT AGUS DON IONCHUIMSITHEACHT
