In our secondary school about 470 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. Your tasks and responsibilities
The DP Coordinator is the pedagogical leader of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) responsible for ensuring high-quality programme implementation in line with IB standards and practices including authorisation and evaluation requirements. The role includes oversight of curriculum teaching and learning and student achievement.
Working closely with the Secondary Principal and Secondary Assistant Principal the DP Coordinator leads professional learning and programme development ensuring the effective implementation of the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Teaching and Approaches to Learning (ATL) across the school.
The DP Coordinator leads academic counselling oversees all aspects of IB assessment and uses assessment data to support programme evaluation and school improvement planning. The role also includes responsibility for all IB administrative requirements including examination sessions compliance with IB regulations and the implementation of the Internal Assessment (IA) calendar.
As a member of the Secondary Management Team the DP Coordinator collaborates with leadership teachers students and families and contributes to the ongoing development of the IB World School community.
Administrative Leadership
- Act as the primary liaison with the IBO ensuring effective communication and compliance with IB requirements
- Manage all DP examination entries and registrations for May and November sessions including Enquiries Upon Results (EUR)
- Lead and oversee examination sessions in accordance with IB regulations ensuring secure and effective conduct
- Oversee the IB budget and related financial processes
- Ensure accurate collection analysis and reporting of assessment data (Predicted and Final Grades) to inform programme evaluation
- Develop implement and monitor the Internal Assessment (IA) calendar ensuring accountability across staff and students
- Lead inclusive access arrangements and adverse circumstances processes in line with IB policies
- Lead IB authorisation and evaluation processes including the five-year evaluation cycle
- Contribute to Secondary School timetabling
Leadership of Learners and Families
- Lead the strategic development of the Diploma Programme ensuring a broad balanced and academically rigorous student experience
- Provide academic counselling including subject selection and guidance aligned with student pathways and post-secondary aspirations
- Ensure clear and consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding all aspects of the IB programme
- Maintain oversight of subject choices including course changes and their implications for future pathways
- Support student wellbeing engagement and accountability within the Diploma Programme
- Oversee systems for monitoring student progress deadlines and completion of work
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department to ensure accurate representation of the IB mission and programme
Leadership of Teachers
- Lead the induction of new DP teachers ensuring understanding of IB philosophy requirements and systems (e.g. MyIB)
- Disseminate and implement key IB communications including Coordinators Notes
- Line manage and support core components: Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity Activity Service (CAS)
- Lead professional learning related to IB teaching and learning curriculum development and programme implementation
- Observe coach and support teachers to ensure effective implementation of ATL and high-quality classroom practice
- Analyse assessment data to support departments in improving student outcomes and targeting interventions
- Work with Academic Learning Leaders to set and monitor targets for improvement
- Oversee curriculum documentation and unit planning to ensure alignment with IB standards and practices
- Support recruitment and professional development of DP teachers
- Lead programme development in response to IB evaluation recommendations and school priorities
Your profile
Essential
University degree in Secondary Education or a comparable qualification
Experience teaching within the IB Diploma Programme with a proven track record of success with Secondary School and IBDP students
Strong understanding of IB standards and practices including assessment and programme requirements
Proven leadership experience including the ability to lead professional learning and support teacher development
Structured self-directed and independent working style
Strong organisational communication and interpersonal skills with excellent intercultural competence
Ability to use data effectively to support programme evaluation and school improvement
Fluency in English
Desirable
Masters degree or equivalent in Educational Leadership or related field
Experience as a IBDP Coordinator or in a similar leadership role
Experience with IB authorisation and evaluation processes
