Job Summary

Location: Remote Employment: Full-time (38 hours per week)

Playgroup Australia is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to serve as our next Chief Executive Officer.

Playgroup Australia is the national voice for playgroups; community spaces where young children learn play and connect alongside their families. We believe playgroups have the power to change lives and our vision is simple: every child every family everywhere learning and connecting through playgroup.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal time for Australias early years sector. Growing recognition of the critical importance of the first five years combined with renewed government focus on early childhood policy means playgroups are more relevant than ever. As CEO you will lead an organisation at the heart of this national conversation advocating for playgroups to be recognised valued and sustainably embedded in the universal early years system.

You will work closely with our Board member organisations across all states and territories government at all levels and sector partners to strengthen the reach and impact of playgroups nationwide.

What Youll Do

  • Lead national advocacy to shape policy funding and recognition for playgroups
  • Oversee delivery of government contracts in partnership with member organisations and service delivery partners
  • Champion high-impact research that builds the evidence base for playgroup effectiveness
  • Drive revenue growth and diversification to secure the organisations future
  • Build and lead a small high-performing remote team
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships across government philanthropy and the early years sector

What Youll Bring

  • Proven CEO or senior executive leadership experience in the not-for-profit or government sector ideally in the early years or community sectors
  • A track record in national advocacy government relations and media engagement
  • Experience securing and delivering government and philanthropic funding
  • A proven record in establishing and maintaining robust contract management data reporting and governance mechanisms to ensure value is delivered to our funders
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in early childhood education social policy management or business

Remuneration

We offer competitive remuneration at $165439 plus 12% superannuation ($185291 total package)
