Inpatient Rehabilitation Speech Therapist Contract Assignment Position Overview
A healthcare facility in Hawaii is seeking an experienced Speech Therapist for an inpatient rehabilitation contract assignment. The Speech Therapist will evaluate and treat patients with communication cognitive and swallowing disorders in an acute rehabilitation setting with possible exposure to skilled nursing and outpatient populations. Candidates must be experienced in independently performing Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) Studies without radiologist supervision.
Schedule & Assignment Details- Contract Length: 26 weeks
- Schedule: Generally 5 days per week
- May include at least one weekend day
- Holiday coverage required
- Possible floating to other facilities depending on census and staffing needs
- Orientation and EMR training provided
- Evaluate develop and implement individualized speech therapy treatment plans
- Perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies independently in radiology
- Treat patients with swallowing speech language voice and cognitive disorders
- Collaborate with physicians rehabilitation staff nursing and interdisciplinary teams
- Document patient care accurately within the EMR system
- Provide patient and family education regarding therapy goals and progress
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and professional standards
- Support rehabilitation services in acute care SNF and possible outpatient settings
- Active Hawaii Speech Therapy license required by assignment start date
- Candidates without an active Hawaii license must apply upon offer acceptance
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in rehabilitation or acute care settings
- Acute care experience required
- Must be proficient in independently completing Modified Barium Swallow Studies
- BLS certification required
- ASHA certification required
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or rehabilitation hospital settings
- Experience with outpatient rehabilitation referrals
- Familiarity with Epic and Meditech documentation systems
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Dress code includes scrubs or facility-approved professional attire
- Employee health appointment required prior to assignment start
- Floating to additional facilities may be required based on operational needs
