Registered Nurse Medical / Surgical (MS RN)
Location: Watertown NY
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong Med/Surg and Coronary Care experience excellent clinical judgment and the flexibility to float between Med/Surg and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings as needed.
This position is best suited for experienced travelers who thrive in fast-paced hospital environments and are comfortable caring for a diverse patient population.
Schedule & Assignment Details
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- 12-hour shifts
- 13-week assignment
- Weekend holiday and call requirements apply
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical/Surgical and PCU patients
- Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to clinical changes
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility policies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
- May be required to function in a charge nurse capacity as needed
Requirements
Experience
- Previous hospital RN experience preferred
- Coronary Care experience required
- Traveler must have completed at least one successful travel assignment
- First-time travelers will not be considered
- Must be comfortable floating between Med/Surg and PCU units
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current New York RN license required
- BLS certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles and patient care practices
- Ability to assess patients clinical educational mental and spiritual needs
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations
- Excellent leadership prioritization and delegation abilities
- Strong interpersonal organizational written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to recognize and address patient and staff safety concerns including safe patient handling techniques
