Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment in the Stepdown Unit at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital in Morgantown WV. This position offers the opportunity to care for a diverse population of high-acuity medical and surgical patients requiring close monitoring in a fast-paced academic medical center.
The ideal candidate is a strong adaptable nurse with excellent clinical judgment telemetry experience and the ability to manage multiple patients with complex needs.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Stepdown patients with medical and surgical conditions.
Perform ongoing patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition.
Provide care for patients requiring continuous telemetry and close observation.
Administer medications IV therapies blood products and other ordered treatments safely and accurately.
Recognize and respond promptly to cardiac respiratory and neurological changes in patient status.
Collaborate with physicians advanced practice providers therapists case managers and interdisciplinary team members.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses treatments medications and discharge planning.
Accurately document all assessments interventions and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Maintain compliance with hospital policies infection prevention standards and patient safety protocols.
Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state.
Candidates do not need a West Virginia RN license in hand at the time of application. Licensure may be obtained prior to the start of the assignment if required by the facility.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current BLS Certification required.
Current ACLS Certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of recent Stepdown Progressive Care (PCU) Telemetry or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center or Teaching Hospital highly preferred.
Strong assessment critical thinking communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity fast-paced environment.
Important Assignment Requirements
This is a contract position at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital.
Local candidates will not be considered.
Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this assignment.
Must meet all facility credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to start date.

Required Education:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state.A West Virginia RN license is not required at the time of application. Candidates may apply without a WV license in hand and obtain licensure prior to the start of the assignment if required by the of an accredited nursing BLS Certification ACLS Certification of 2 years of recent experience
