Job Summary

Job Summary: The Maintenance-I position is responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of school buildings andsurrounding grounds. The Maintenance I should be a jack-of-all trades ready for minor emergencies that may comeup. This position must work closely with Building Principal on a daily basis.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.


1. General safety health and comfort of the buildings occupants.
2. Cleanliness and orderliness of the building site furniture fixtures and equipment.
3. Minor repairs such as tightening screws replacing glass light bulbs and faucet washers fixing furniturepainting etc.
4. Grounds work to include but not be limited to removing snow sanding salting mowing trimming andlandscaping.
5. Dusting sweeping scrubbing washing windows waxing and vacuuming.
6. Building security.
7. Moving and arranging furniture fixtures and equipment.
8. Receiving delivering and storing shipments of materials.
9. At the beginning of each shift the work to be done will be directed by Physical Plant Supervisor incoordination with the Building Principal.
10. Other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received: Reports to receives daily work assignments and is evaluated by Physical Plant Supervisorin conjunction with Building Principals.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None.


Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each job function in an efficient andcompliant manner. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge skills and/or abilities accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job functions.

1. Education and Experience: High school degree or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferredor a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.


2. Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similaritiesand differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


3. Mathematical Skills: Good basic mathematical skills including ability to perform operations using units of weightmeasurement volume and distance.


4. Reasoning Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailedwritten or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situationsin a safe efficient manner. Must be able to multi-task to meet objectives on time on budget.


5. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously efficiently and effectively with avariety of individuals including students faculty administrators parents and representatives of outsideorganizations and staff. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers subordinates supervisorsparents and outside agencies. Ability to effectively resolve conflicts.


6. Other Skills and Abilities:
6.1 Follow through and seeing tasks and projects to completion is essential.
6.2 Pride in ones work and completion of a task.
6.3 Willingness to assist others within changing conditions is essential.
6.4 Good verbal and interpersonal skills with staff students and fellow team members.
