QUALIFICATIONS:
- The candidate must satisfy and maintain valid licensure of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Special Education.
- Dual certification a plus/preferred.

The special education teacher provides high-quality services to students with disabilities by fostering an inclusive environment where all students are able to achieve at high standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfills all duties and responsibilities contained in the contract between the Southeastern Regional School District Committee and the Southeastern Regional Teachers Federation.
- Implements and provides consultation on effective instructional strategies and curriculum that aligns with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks as modified to meet the individual needs of children and instructional requirements of the Individualized Educational Programs.
- Promotes inclusive practice across grade levels while supporting and consulting with classroom teachers therapists ESPs administrators and families.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning appropriate to students maturity and responsive to their interests.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Uses innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and promote the confidence to learn.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence especially as it relates to the specific assignment student grade level and relevant subject area.
- Promotes equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs 504 plans and/or secondary language learners.
- Maintains regular contact with parents of students as needed and/or as determined by IEP.
- Participates in IEP meetings parent conferences case management and transitional meetings as requested.
- Respects student confidentiality in all contact with any third party.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
EVALUATION: The Supervisor will evaluate performance of this position.
