Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist to support prior authorization scheduling billing and insurance verification processes within a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical terminology insurance authorization workflows and healthcare administrative operations while maintaining a high level of professionalism and patient service.
Responsibilities:
Review physician orders pharmacy documentation and third-party authorization platforms
Initiate and manage prior authorization requests with insurance providers
Follow up with insurance companies regarding authorization approvals and status updates
Submit additional clinical or financial documentation required for authorization determinations
Verify patient insurance coverage eligibility and benefits
Communicate effectively with clinics physicians insurance representatives and internal departments
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of authorization and billing activities
Support scheduling admitting registration and billing-related processes as needed
Utilize Microsoft Office applications and healthcare systems efficiently
Ensure compliance with organizational policies financial procedures and healthcare regulations
Maintain productivity quality standards and customer service expectations
Qualifications & Requirements:
Associates Degree with two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience OR High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of relevant healthcare experience
Minimum 2 years of healthcare business office experience in a hospital physician practice surgery center or health plan environment
Minimum 1 year of prior authorization experience with a healthcare provider or insurance company
Strong knowledge of medical terminology CPT codes and diagnosis codes required
Experience with insurance verification hospital registration billing or healthcare data processing preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
Strong organizational communication and multitasking skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare administrative environment
