Job Title: Authorization Specialist Admitting / Scheduling / Billing

Shift: Day Shift MondayFriday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist to support prior authorization scheduling billing and insurance verification processes within a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical terminology insurance authorization workflows and healthcare administrative operations while maintaining a high level of professionalism and patient service.
Responsibilities:
- Review physician orders pharmacy documentation and third-party authorization platforms
- Initiate and manage prior authorization requests with insurance providers
- Follow up with insurance companies regarding authorization approvals and status updates
- Submit additional clinical or financial documentation required for authorization determinations
- Verify patient insurance coverage eligibility and benefits
- Communicate effectively with clinics physicians insurance representatives and internal departments
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of authorization and billing activities
- Support scheduling admitting registration and billing-related processes as needed
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications and healthcare systems efficiently
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies financial procedures and healthcare regulations
- Maintain productivity quality standards and customer service expectations
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Associates Degree with two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience
OR
High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of relevant healthcare experience - Minimum 2 years of healthcare business office experience in a hospital physician practice surgery center or health plan environment
- Minimum 1 year of prior authorization experience with a healthcare provider or insurance company
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology CPT codes and diagnosis codes required
- Experience with insurance verification hospital registration billing or healthcare data processing preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
- Strong organizational communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare administrative environment
