R&D HIL (Hardware in the Loop) Specialist

The opportunity

You shall be working in the research and development department whichis responsible forthe control and automation logics relevant to Energy StoragePhotovoltaics Hybridsolutionsand Automation systemswithin the Grid Automation Business Unit Power Conversion Systems team.

The proposed role is available in the Hitachi Energy Grid Automation offices in Genova Italyand in Seville.

Being part of a global team youshall interact with the different stakeholders of the organization and Operational units worldwide.

Your focus shall be on theverification & validation (V&V)of Hitachi Energy PCS product portfolio (PCS and Automation) with focus onthe systemsfeatures for several applications PV BESS Hybrid systemsgrid connected and islandedpower systemsetc..

Howyoullmake an impact

• You shallleverageyour extensive knowledgeformodelling:Power Electronicsconverters digitalcontrollersrenewable and thermalgeneration assets loadsin Hardware in the Loopto performSystem Integrationsimulationswhen the different assets are grid connected of inisland operation.

• You willbe responsible forthesystemHiLV&VprocessesforPCS product portfolio integrated withspecificcustomeradditionalassets andfunctional requirements.

• Working with the R&D senior management you shallparticipatein the definition andimplementationthesystemV&Vplanning beingsupporting thedifferent applicationsdelivery and rollouttoexecution projects.

• As part of the R&Dteamyou will have the opportunity to interact with Product Management external consultants and internal customers globallylocated.

• Responsible for documentation generation versiontrackingand quality checks.

• Provide training and support of PCS colleagues customers and consultants.

Your background

• Mastersdegree preferably in Power Electronicstopologies andControl with a focus on power electronics current and voltage control loops and modulation techniques. A PhD in the area is preferred.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in control techniques applied to Power Conversion Systems preferably applied to 3 Phase DC/AC 2 and 3 level topologies and DC/DC converters.

• Proficient with automatic control theory and techniques applied to power electronics.

• Proficient in PCS topologies operationmodellingand simulation including modulation techniques (scalar and vectorial).

• Proficient with Power Electronics and Control System modelling tools (TyphoonMatlabSimulink PLECS).

• Knowledge of PythonPyTestand simulation automation techniques is a plus.

• Solid presentation skills and fluency in English both written and spoken.

• High awarenessforqualityprocessandtoolin relatedarea.

• Self-motivated independentorganizedand structured way of working.

• Able tooperatein a highly motivated team environment.

• Availability to travel globally (20 - 30% of the time)
