Education / Certification:
- Masters degree inSocial WorkorCounseling
- Licensure Required(LMSW/LCSW/LPC)
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Knowledge of best practices in trauma informed care crisis response substanceabusetruancyand the effects on studentachievement.
- Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
- Clinical assessment skills and ability toassistand/or makeappropriate referralstosupport physical and psychological safetyeffortscampus and district wide.
Experience / Other Requirements:
- Three years of experience providing social workor counselingservices in aneducational setting.
- Experience developing student support plans.
- Experience presenting training to large and small groups.
- Personal cellphone isrequiredto handle District related business including after hours or when away from the office on District business.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Social Work/Counseling
- Provide direct individual and group counseling or crisis intervention servicesbased onidentifiedstudent needs whichimpactstudent performance.
- Advocate and providedirect supportin coordination with the academic programto meetneeds ofat-riskstudentswho are struggling to succeed in school or whodesireto return to school to complete an academic program
- Provide leadership to amultidisciplinary committee to develop support plans to address academicbehavioralandsocial and emotional needs of At-Risk students
- Remove barriers to academic successby providing case management services connectingstudents with community mentalandbehavioral health services andresources thatproviderelated supportive services.
Consultation
- Provide training for staff parentscommunityand studentsin evidence-based methods of supporting the social and emotional needs of students.
- Maintain a communication system that effectively collects anddisseminatesinformation to other professionals asappropriate.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other school professionals and representatives of community resources.
Administration
- Complies withpoliciesestablishedby federal and state law State Board of Education rule and board policyin the guidanceand counseling area.
- Complies withall District routines and regulations.
- Maintains a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues students and parents.
- May supervise persons completingpracticumor internship through a college or university program.
Professional
- Adheres to ethical and legal standards and models of behavior thatisprofessional and responsible.
- Participates in professional development to improve skills related to jobassignment.
- Responsible for properlymaintainingDistrict records adhering to all policies set forth by theDistrictfor records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
