The HR Division (Total Rewards Section) of the NC Department of Revenue is seeking a problem solver with a passion for providing superior customer service to fill the role of Benefits Specialist. Being eager to learn new processes and possessing top-notch organizational skills are assets of viable candidates for this role.
This position reports directly to the Benefits Manager and has independent programmatic responsibilities serving as the Health Benefits Representative and Leave Administrator for the agency. The position assists employees in a wide variety of benefits areas facilitates New Employee Orientation completes HRIS actions and performs various duties related to benefits and leave. The position requires an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within area of responsibility; able to learn and apply rules procedures and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions.
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitor time issues and making corrections to eliminate errors in FIORI
Serves as a primary member of the Onboarding Team including the benefits presentation and processing new hire paperwork.
Correspond with employees on a daily basis with regard to their benefits Public Service Loan Forgiveness Voluntary Shared Leave and other general inquiries.
Create Human Resources reports as assigned with focus on New Hire surveys.
This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of a State Teleworking Program. Any telework will be under the conditions of the State Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time at the employers sole discretion.
Occasional overnight travel to service centers may be required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Basic to working knowledge of State HR systems and processes
Benefits administration experience at a NC state agency or university is preferred.
Experience in processing actions in the Integrated HR/Payroll System (FIORI).
Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience assisting employees with Family Medical Leave and Leave of Absence.
Recruitment Range: $37377 - $65408

Minimum Education and Experience

Associates degree typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.EEO Statement
