Staff Electrical Design Engineer EPC
The Staff Electrical Engineer isresponsible for the end-to-end electrical design ofindustrialoffices and labfacilities across multiple locations. The role holds full ownership of electrical deliverables from concept through construction across a diverse range of project types including hazardous occupancyrecycling facilitiesoffice and labswarehouse environments and34.5 kV/24.9 kVsite infrastructure. The engineer is expected to operate with a high degree of independence serving as Electrical Engineer of Record on assigned projects while coordinating across multiple disciplines to deliver code-compliant construction-ready packages on schedule and within budget. This position requires a licensed Professional Engineer who isnot onlyhighlyskilled at performing complex engineering calculations but alsomotivated detail-oriented and capable of communicating effectively at all levels from field teams to executive stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
- Design and own a wide range of electrical systems including medium voltage (up to 34.5 kV) feeds low voltage power distribution lighting raceway grounding and communications.
- Serve as Electrical Engineer of Recordandresponsible for producing permit and constructiondrawings.
- Perform power system studies including short-circuit analysis arc flash calculations and protective device coordination using SKM or ETAP to ensure safe and code-compliant designs.
- Perform cable ampacity calculations usingAmpCalcor similar software tooptimize cable size instead of using prescriptive tables fromNational Electrical Code (NEC).
- Lead multi-discipline coordination with architectural civil structural mechanical fire & life safety and other design teams to produce complete Issue for Construction (IFC) packages.
- Review conceptual designs from manufacturing engineers and stakeholders to identify technical and financial electrical specifications and conduct technical bid evaluations fordesignsproduced byexternal design consultants.
- Lead code analysis for NEC IECC and applicable NFPA standards across all project deliverables and ensure designs meet all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Provide construction administration support including RFI responses submittal reviews change order management and on-site as the technical point of contact during construction and commissioning.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates and project schedules perform QA/QC reviews of electrical designs and mentor junior engineers while contributing to internal design standards and best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Nevada or eligible for reciprocity. Must get their PE in Nevada and South Carolina within 2 months of start date.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy commercial and industrial sectors with evidence of exceptional ability.
- Subject matter expertise inNational Electrical Code (NEC) International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)and relevantNational Fire Protection Association (NFPA)standards with demonstrated ability to lead code analysis and apply requirements across complex multi-discipline projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP AutoCAD Navisworks Bluebeam and SKM or ETAP for design production clash detection document review and power system studies.
- Advanced proficiency inAmpCalc or similar for cable ampacity calculations. Ability toperform photometric studies using lighting design software such as Visual or AGI and make decisions on optimal lighting levels for projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to independently manage multiple concurrent projects prioritize tasks effectively and deliver high-quality engineering documents on schedule.
- Ability to travel to project sites for construction administration commissioning support and field issue resolution with flexibility to adjust availability based on project phase demands.
- Excellent communication skills verbal written and through drawings/sketches with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and interface confidently at an executive level.
In accordance with California pay transparency laws the salary range for this position is listed below. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of factors including experience education and skills.
California Pay Range:
$190000 - $252500 USD
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
