SUMMARY: The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for planning organizing and controlling production in an organization to ensure goods are produced efficiently on time within budget and to standard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage activities within the production process.
  • Plan and organize productions schedules.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
  • Help plan and implement new technology automation and other improvements.
  • Promote and ensure compliance of policies and procedures.
  • Implement and control the production schedule.
  • Review and adjust the schedule where needed.
  • Determine the staffing needs and manage human and material resources to meet production targets.
  • Make decisions about equipment use maintenance modification and procurement.
  • Ensure the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to.
  • Monitor quality standards of products.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.
  • Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems.
  • Determine and implement improvements to the production process.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required
    • Bachelors Degree or related field or equivalent experience AND 5 years of poultry or protein manufacturing experience
    • 5 years of management experience
    • Extensive knowledge of HACCP procedures
    • Extensive knowledge of plant sanitation procedures
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
