BILINGUAL AIDE JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Bilingual Aide
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal
WAGE HOUR/STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
PAY GRADE: 030
DUTY DAYS: 187 Days
FUNDING SOURCE: LOCAL

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist the classroom teacher in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs including self-help behavior management and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to work well with children
- Proficient communication skills
- Ability to operate a computer using a variety of basic applications
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
- Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day both inside and outside the classroom
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist in inventory care and maintenance of classroom equipment
- Participate in staff development training programs faculty meetings and special events as required
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
- Any other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent movement from one classroom to another
- Frequent standing stooping and bending
- May be required to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
