Software Development Engineer, AWS Insights and Optimizations

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Hex team within AWS Insights and Optimizations. This team owns the execution plane and data plane for AWS Billing and cost management the services that power Budgets Cost Anomaly Detection Pricing Calculator Alerts Forecasting and Heimdall across all AWS partitions globally.

You will work on high-scale high-availability distributed systems that process cost data for millions of AWS accounts. The services you own directly impact how customers monitor control and optimize their AWS spending. You will also have the opportunity to apply GenAI tooling to reduce operational toil improve pipeline health and build automation that scales the teams impact


Key job responsibilities
What youll do

* Design build and operate distributed services that power AWS cost management across all 8 AWS partitions
* Own and improve the operational health of high-volume services pipeline deployments ticket resolution on-call response and automated testing
* Drive engineering efficiency through automation automated ticket triage pipeline remediation test generation and deployment validation
* Contribute to our S-Team commitments for Cost Monitoring and Estimation Products
* Collaborate with science teams on ML-powered cost forecasting and anomaly detection models
* Write clean efficient and well-tested code while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable systems.
* Collaborate with Applied Scientists to productionize research innovations while ensuring system reliability performance and cost efficiency.
* Demonstrate strong ownership of complex technical problems spanning multiple services and teams.
* Continuously learn new Gen AI/ML technologies and engineering best practices while demonstrating Amazons Leadership Principles particularly Ownership and Deliver Results in daily work.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1 years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1 years of designing and developing large-scale multi-tiered multi-threaded embedded or distributed software applications tools systems and services using: C# C Java or Perl experience
- Experience with full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
- Familiarity with cost management billing or FinOps domains

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
