PBX Engineering is looking for a Design Engineer to assist our Transportation team in delivering projects in Vancouver.

About the Role
Working closely with senior engineers the Design Engineer will be an active member of the Transportation team with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:
- Project and client management
- Preparation of electrical designs for traffic signals and lighting
- Preparation of electrical and systems design for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure including CCTV Advanced Traveler Information Systems Traffic Safety Systems Active Traffic Management Systems.
- Preparation of calculations and simulations
- Preparation of design documentation including drawings cost estimates and construction specifications
- Performing construction services and site inspections
- Performing system testing commissioning and troubleshooting
- Participation in design development and design review meetings with clients and other stakeholders
- Travel to site locations and on-site work as required including construction inspections system commissioning and troubleshooting tasks.
Qualifications
Core Qualifications
The preferred and required skills of a successful candidate are listed below:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
- At least 5-10 years experience in an engineering consulting environment
- Eligible for registration EGBC as a . or EIT
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn and a positive professional attitude
- Able to effectively deal with a high level of responsibility and demanding work schedule
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code MMCD MUTCDc IES Recommended Practices
- Strong computer skills including good working knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment where demands and deadlines shift frequently
Desirable Qualifications
Beyond the core skills there are particular qualifications that will set you successful candidate will likely have most or all of the following qualifications:
- Experience with traffic simulation and modelling using Synchro
- Experience with AGI or other lighting design software
- Experience or general understanding of outdoor electrical systems such as street lighting site lighting pathway lighting and traffic signals
- Genuine desire to make an impactful contribution to a place where you yourself can build a long term career.
While relevant experience is certainly an asset we are far more interested in finding the right person and are willing to train
Compensation
The range of compensation for this position is $95000 to $135000. This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial actual salary will depend on the skills experience and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above.
