As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials youll dive deep into ground-breaking technologieslike machine learning and AIto craft novel software solutions that solve our customers high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing prototyping developing and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. Youll develop software documentation and test procedures troubleshoot software problems and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team youll contribute your expertise in intricate systems deciphering code and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.Our Team
You will be part of a global software engineering team responsible for organizations equipment software which controls advanced Xray inspection systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. The team works crossfunctionally with hardware systems algorithm and field teams across the US and India to build reliable highperformance equipment software.
Your Opportunity
As part of this team engineers will work on software for complex electromechanical and Xray systems. For senior engineers and the lead role this position provides strong opportunities to:
- Influence system architecture and technical direction
- Take leadership in organizations emerging Advanced Packaging initiative
- Drive execution across C# and Python based systems
- Grow new division and set the roadmap and priorities with organizations leadership
- Work closely with global teams on nextgeneration inspection platforms
Roles and Responsibility
- Technical ownership of major subsystems within APX software
- Design and review software architecture for controls hardware abstraction and system workflows
- Attract and build an engineering team with expertise in semiconductor inspection software and controls
- Regularly communicate with core team on roadmap and strategy
- Provide technical guidance and code reviews
- Collaborate with hardware systems and algorithm teams on endtoend solutions
- Drive best practices in software quality reliability and maintainability
- Support system integration debugging and customer escalations
Our Ideal Candidate
- Experience in designing high reliability software for automated semiconductor inspection
- Understanding of team structural needs and demonstrated technical leadership
- Strong problemsolving and debugging skills
- Experience working on complex hardwarecoupled software systems
- Ability to work in a global crosstimezone engineering environment
- Clear communication and teamwork skills
Education
- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in C# and Python or similar systemlevel programming languages
- Experience with realtime systems equipment control or industrial automation software preferred
- Experience interfacing with hardware (motion controllers sensors imaging systems or similar)
- Solid understanding of software design principles and objectoriented programming
- Experience with Windows-based development environments
- Strong math and geometry skills
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in semiconductor equipment metrology or inspection tools
- Knowledge of Xray systems imaging pipelines or data acquisition systems
- Experience with multithreading performance optimization and realtime constraints
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices
- Experience working with distributed global teams and thoughts on best practices
