Job Summary
Job Title: Biomedical Technician
Loc - Port Jefferson NY 11777 and Smithtown NY 11787
Pay rate: $40-43/hour/W
Pay rate: $40-43/hour/W
Shift/Schedule: 5X8 M-F 8 AM-4:00 PM
This role will require travel between two facilities approximately 13 miles apart:
- Catholic Health Saint Charles Hospital
- Catholic Health Saint Catherine of Siena Medical Center
Job Summary:
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for testing repairing calibrating and maintaining medical equipment to ensure safety and proper performance.
Education Required:
- Associate degree in Electronics or Electronic Technical Trade School
Experience Required:
- Minimum 1 year of Biomedical Technician experience
- Experience independently managing a facility as a sole/lead Biomedical Technician preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematic drawings
- Strong troubleshooting analytical and communication skills
Required Skills:
- Basic knowledge of electricity and electronics principles
- Familiarity with electronic and electro-mechanical testing equipment
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows systems
- Basic typing data entry and record-keeping skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on medical equipment
- Inspect test and troubleshoot medical devices for safety and performance
- Install and assemble new medical equipment and upgrades
- Maintain technical manuals and spare parts inventory
- Order repair parts and assist with equipment setup and wiring
- Support staff training on medical equipment use
- Maintain accurate service records and data entry
- Participate in emergency response situations when needed
- Stay updated on new biomedical technologies and procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
- Ability to bend stretch and handle delicate equipment
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills required
