This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
The opportunity
CBC/Radio-Canada operates one of the worlds leading technology infrastructures and one of the largest private networks which distributes its content and services exclusively across the country.
CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for a hands-on System Designer in networking to join our Engineering team to actively take part in projects focused on deploying technology. This is a full-time permanent position and the successful incumbent would be based in Montreal working primarily on local projects with eventual and occasional travel to various other sites nationally.

As our new System Designer you will:
Create concept designs for review with our business partners and/or peers.
Participate in the design of innovative practical solutions to complex problems.
Regularly meet with peers project leads and other teams to confirm requirements provide analytical data and possible solutions.
Participate in the scheduling of project activities.
Prepare schematic layout drawings and installation instructions.
Collaborate with project leads on the procurement process especially for material receiving.
Actively participate in the implementation phase of the project.
Verify system performance and participate in deficiencies identification and rectification.
Work with the project leads to prepare documentation for ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities.
What you bring:
Knowledge in detailed networking design and implementation.
Hands-on experience with: Networking technologies and related products from different manufacturers (Cisco Arista Fortinet) for data centers campus networking and different types of network services automation network configurations and modifications.
Hands-on experience with: Complex routing protocols Wi-Fi systems authentication tools WAN technologies multicast networking security policies. RDMA experience is an asset.
Hands-on experience with: CI/CD pipeline Ansible Netbox. Knowledge of various Automation and Scripting tools is an asset.
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer or Applied Science or Engineering or a Diploma In Applied Science and Technology.
Basic competencies in: Project Management specifically with the Agile approach.
Professional accreditation: Membership or eligibility to become a member of the provincial Engineering Association (PEO OIQ etc) is an asset.
Bilingual communication: Strong and influential verbal and written communication skills in French. English must be functional both verbal and written.
Strong analytical skills with an innate ability to think through complex issues and design innovative solutions as well as digging further into issues removing roadblocks and presenting solutions for immediate and long term.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers.
Ability to work efficiently on a number of projects at different stages with multiple priorities never losing sight of the details.
Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies quickly all while staying up to date with industry best practices.
Ability to travel to different CBC locations to assist/lead different phases of projects.
