Instructor Qualifications

Minimum Instructor Qualifications:

1. Registered Dental Hygienist

2. Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

3. Associate degree in Dental Hygiene

4. Baccalaureate degree in any field

5. Current active dental hygiene license in the state of Oregon

6. Current Health Care Provider CPR/BLS

7. Oregon Local Anesthesia Endorsement

8. Oregon Nitrous Oxide Permit

9. Minimum of three years of full time experience as a clinical dental hygienist (or equivalent of 3500 hours within the last 5 years)

10. Current immunization records: Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR) Varicella Hepatitis B TB Test Tetanus Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap) Influenza COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred Instructor Qualifications:

Masters degree in a field related to education or dental hygiene

Experience teaching in a dental hygiene program

Expanded Practice Permit

Restorative Functions Endorsement

Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)credential

Clinical experience as a dental assistant

Active membership in the American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA)

  Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

  Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

  Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture Lab or Lecture/Lab).
