SCOPE OF WORK: Administers the Paramedic Emergency Medicine program through the development implementation evaluation and advancement of course curriculum and programs teaching effectiveness student advisement academic support systems and program promotion. Ensures the Paramedic Emergency Medicine program remains compliant with state and national accreditations. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Healthcare Professions at NHTI Concords Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Supervises and evaluates department faculty staff and medical directors; assigns course loads to faculty and staff.
- In consultation with the dept. chair recruits interviews and recommends candidates for faculty staff and medical director appointments to the Vice-President of Academic & Workforce Education.
- Recruits interviews and recommends student-candidates for acceptance to the program.
- Develops and implements training plans for the programs faculty and staff; maintains program policy manuals for faculty staff and students in accordance with state and national accreditation.
- Interfaces with the programs lead instructor faculty and medical directors on a regular and substantive basis including seeking their input on any issues with the students or the program in general.
- Oversees the programs curriculum and program development in conjunction with the program medical director(s) ensuring compliance with state and national standards; reviews and coordinates textbook selection.
- Supervises in conjunction with the lead instructor the educational activities of students in classroom laboratory and clinical settings.
- Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs in conjunction with the lead instructor; manages and participates in student academic advising including the review of student academic progress and registration; exercises professional judgement in referring students to appropriate personnel.
- Develops and maintains an advisory committee to meet at least biannually and in accordance with accreditation requirements.
- Communicates and works with other academic and non-academic departments on issues of mutual concern such as general academic issues library purchases registration and placement activities.
- Participates in meetings and Academic Leadership Council (ALC) activities as assigned.
- Monitors graduates and their employers as needed to compile placement statistics and in keeping with accreditation standards.
- Maintains liaison with professional community including recruiting and responding to professional development needs.
- Monitors and orders supplies/equipment ensuring that applicable lab equipment is maintained in working order. Initiates repair replacement and upgrade requests as required. Reports lost or stolen items to Campus Safety Director on a timely basis.
- Serves on Department College and System committees and teams as required.
- Complies with College System State and Federal rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Masters degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in nursing health education emergency medicine or a related field.
Experience: Ten years experience as a paramedic nurse or advanced care provider (APRN PA MD/OD) with preference to emergency medical experience. Five years experience as an EMS educator (paramedic-level preferred). Current employment as a medical provider (prehospital preferred). Experience as clinical coordinator and hospital clinic faculty (paramedic-level preferred).
License/Certification: Current licensure as a New Hampshire paramedic New Hampshire EMS Instructor Coordinator (EMS I/C) and American Heart Association Instructor certifications in ACLS PALS and BLS.
